I know I am a couple of weeks early, but I live in L.A. so the Oscars buzz is already in full swing. And for those of you that don’t plan ahead, now is your chance! I made it a goal of mine to throw an Oscars viewing party with my girl friends this year, so I’m already planning what to cook, what to wear, and how to decorate. I hope you’re getting just as excited as I am!
Here’s what I’ve decided on doing so far for our Oscars viewing party:
- Watch all the beautiful, sparkly gowns the stars wear on the red carpet
- Make this simple cucumber collins cocktail with cucumber, gin & club soda (for Julian!)
- Decorate with a or gold or silver star garland
- Jump on the marquee bandwagon with these bright letters or a cool cinema lightbox
- Have some homemade caramel popcorn or kettle corn handy to snack on
My dad and I used to always watch the Oscars together. I remember we’d always try to guess the winners, before they were announced. Now I do the same thing with Julian. Even if we can’t do it when the Oscars is live, we record it and watch it the night it comes out.
