Make Things Happen

make things happen

Yesterday, I had one of the toughest, most challenging, and most illuminating days ever. I was simply at my breaking point. As many of you know, I have my own small business making nut butter that I run with the help of my boyfriend. But because he has another full-time job, I of course have the responsibility of handling all the physical production and filling orders. Everything was going smoothly until our equipment (which we just bought a month ago, mind you) decided to break all of a sudden. I guess the building stress had gotten to me, because I basically had an emotional meltdown. How did I get through it?

By making things happen. After having a really good cry about it, I decided it was time for action. Nothing would be fixed by crying. I needed to make things happen in order to move forward. Thank goodness for my boyfriend, because he demanded the manufacturer to replace our faulty equipment with a brand new one. After some deliberation, thankfully they agreed so here I am with a brand new machine and a concrete plan.

First, there’s the production I will be busy with for the next couple of days so that I can fill all our wholesale orders. Then, I have some clients whose orders I need to make and deliver. I am hoping to have it all done by the end of this week. I’m a little bit off my schedule, but I’ve learned I need to be flexible because unexpected and unavoidable things happen sometimes. It’s important to work around them and move forward.

I’ve learned that I need to work on how to better cope with my emotions.

I absolutely love what I do and am so grateful to be able to pursue my passion. It’s an opportunity that not everyone has. Instead of letting my obsession with perfectionism take over, it’s important for me to keep in mind everything I’ve accomplished.

I had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with a local health foods company on some amazing gluten-free & dairy-free granola bars, which we launched for the first time at a market this past weekend. To my happy surprise, we sold out in the first couple of hours! So, it’s with this success in mind that I power through the tough aspects of business and continue to grow and learn with every step.
